For the kids, this started a bit slow. As an adult who loves beautiful language, I loved it from the first word. This book followed the adventures of Rat, Mole, Badger and Toad and their life around the river. We all loved Rat and Mole and Badger, but I think the house favorite was Toad. He was quite a fellow and had us all in stitches much of the time. Though Rat made a good showing with his love of weaponry.
This was an excellent book. It was well-written and really spoke well for the power of friendship. These guys were always looking out for each other, always helping each other out, always letting bygones be bygones and always enjoying each other’s company.
I absolutly understand why this book has acquired its stellar reputation.
