Here and there, I see a Polish folk art piece for sale made of inlaid straw (I think?) depicting Mary sitting on the moon. I love it! But each time I’ve come across it, it has gotten bought out from under me.
Finding myself on the wrong side of yet another Ebay auction, I decided to try and paint the image myself. And I found out it is called Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn.
I think it came out pretty good, if I do say so myself.
It’s a lovely reminder that Our Lady, like the moon, is not the source of her own light, but a reflection of her Son’s.
Other sizes are available. Please allow up to one week for artisaning.
